…And Growing Still
Dear Friend,
I am still growing.
You are still growing.
We are still growing.
No matter your unique circumstances, we are all still baby plants in a greenhouse growing alongside each other. As much as it can feel like it, no one has truly “arrived” or “made it”.
Yes, we, as individuals, are unique, and our circumstances, situations, trials, and struggles will look and are different.
We are all different ages, have different amounts of years of experience, and are in different places in our walks with Christ.
But when I imagine myself and EVERYONE around me as a tiny plant in need of sunshine, some water, good soil, and strong roots it helps me combat some of my temptation towards perfectionism.
For some, maybe the perfectionist spirit is generational. Maybe it stems from fear or trauma. Maybe mental health comes into play.
Friend, know that whatever fuels the urge to do things OR a one certain thing perfectly is very human, natural, and can be, in some ways, a very good thing.
It's good to want to do our best. It’s good to give 100%. it’s good to do everything with excellence for the glory of God!
Jesus never said, “you gotta be perfect to earn My love” or “don’t mess this one up, kid”.
That’s not His heart.
Our Creator is not putting that expectation of perfection on us so why do we do that to ourselves? Why do we put that on others?
This is your encouragement to find peace in knowing we serve a kind, gentle, merciful, patient, humble, loving, and gracious King.
And He is not surprised by our lack of absolute perfection nor is He shocked by our shortcomings.
WE ARE ALL GROWING;
less striving, more abiding.
I’m cheering for you and growing right alongside you,
Kayla Marie
