Advent: Week 4

“Born to raise the sons of earth, born to to give them second birth.”

I woke up on Boxing Day, the 26th of December, to more food, festivities and other half-British-home traditions we do.

Leaving the house early in the morning, it was like a ghost town.

The roads were empty,

some stores will still closed,

and there were barely any cars on the road.

The once-swirled “hype” dust of this beautifully wild season had finally settled.

Though this year and all of its festiveness are coming to an end, this is not the “end” end.

The story doesn’t stop here.

This is not the end.

Christ’s work on the cross is finished but His plan to renew, redeem, and resurrect is still alive and well.

As one of my favourite authors once put it, “Aslan is on the move.”

God is still working. Miracles are happening. Lives are being transformed.

There will be a day when all will be made new.

There will soon be a day when we are reunited with loved ones in glory.

There will soon be a day when our joy will be eternal and death will be absolutely defeated.

There will soon be a day when all the heaviness, weariness, and brokenness of this world will be replaced with thrills of joy and the truest of peace.

It’s not over yet.

May we never lose hope - a hope of an eternal kingdom and endless joy.

May our hearts be ever full of the wonders of His love.

This Christmas season is slowly but surely coming to a close. And maybe your current circumstances have an empty or lonely or “the end” feel to it.

Don’t lose heart.

In Christ, our hope in life is anchored to the promise of new beginnings and His faithful goodness and grace.

His story and our hope don’t just end at manger or cross or grave;

our hope is set in heaven and the hope He is making all things new.

The King of all creation set aside His crown and His death and resurrection brought you and I - the sons of earth - back to life.

Sons of earth,

heirs to the Kingdom.

Daily, hourly, by the minute - we are refreshed and washed anew in our Saviour’s marvelous grace.

Your story is not over.

Your adventure only continues and the best is yet to come.
